“Under, under, under!”
What had been before us now had surrounded us. Our hair had been pushed from our eyes so thoroughly you’d have thought it was your mother beginning a braid. Only it slapped our faces hard without sting and yet heavy to the touch. Rolling over us like nothing. We were of little, if any, consequence to this wall of water. The way it had broken too soon for us to jump. Laughing hysterically because we should be afraid of what had been barreling toward us. Instead though, instead we were kids again. The age in which you know of danger but the ocean had been your friend all this time why would it hurt you? We opened our arms and fell into it. Wave after wave, the sun falling over us. The water had not been cold enough to push us out.
