Two weeks ago, my boyfriend & best friend of 2 years (which feel more like a lifetime) broke up with me. Not because of lost love, or constant fighting - but because "I'm too good for him".. right person, wrong time. Reading about earnestness on a mattress took me right back to the beginnings of our relationship when we would sit on my mattress till early hours of the morning, planning what his study in our house would look like, what stories I would write for The New York Times, how he would buy our kids countless ready-made-meals when mummy was away on business ... and how earnest it all felt.
